Reverend David Yancy II is one of the emerging teaching pastors for the South Memphis District of the West Tennessee Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. Over the past twenty-five years Reverend Yancy had the distinct privilege of creating, cultivating and molding normal church environments into Kingdom Gardens for spiritual and personal growth. This is God’s doing! He is grateful and thankful to be God’s willing servant. Through numerous prayers, Church and Sunday School teachings, Bible studies and Mid-Week Services, the Holy Spirit continues to solidify relevant teaching for modern times!


Reverend Yancy stays rooted and grounded in ministry by the Word of God. One of his anchor scriptures is Ephesians 4:11-13 which allows him to stir up the Spirit and sharpen his God given gift for the next opportunity to share the Gospel. Reverend Yancy is gifted with a unique personable  Evangelistic, Teaching and Pastoral Ministry. His anointed blending of traditional and contemporary ministry focuses on relevant spiritual and personal growth during the Sanctification process. As the Senior Pastor of Mount Zion AME Church, nurturing people and practically applying God’s Word is the agenda. 


Reverend Yancy, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, was ordained a Deacon in 1992 at Syvania Baptist Church in Fredricksburg, Virginia.  He was called to the Gospel Ministry, licensed during 2001 and ordained in 2002. Reverend Yancy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from the Tennessee School of Religion, Memphis, TN and a Bachelor of Business with an emphasis in Finance from National University, San Diego, CA. He earned the Master of Public Administration from Webster University, St. Louis, MO and Master of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, TN.


As a member of the  African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME), 13th Episcopal District, West Tennessee Conference, Reverend Yancy has chaired the Men’s Ministry (Sons of Allen) from 2014 - 2019. He is a Certified Chaplain and has provided Pastoral leadership to four Churches since 2010. Prior to his AME affiliation,  Reverend Yancy’s International Missionary service has included Associate Minister at Foster Military Chapel in Okinawa, Japan and  Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Churches Blue fields, Nicaragua. He also served as Associate Minister at The Historical Boston Baptist Church Memphis, Tennessee, with Dr. Ydell Ishmon Sr.  Pastor Yancy has three favorite children Angela (Mario), David III and Jaleeca Rebecca and two adorable grandchildren. Pastor Yancy is married to Rev. Joy  W. Yancy, Pastor of Mt. Herman AMEC.
